WC 2007 ... I weigh in

Why we can't go the distance? (the part where I exhibit my ignorance for the game)

Recent lack of one day form mostly stemming from an lack of any top or middle order batsman exhibiting any rich and consistent run of form.
Early run in with Sri Lanka who wont prove easy pushovers considering their recent run of very good form during which they have won bowl matches with the bat and ball, coupled with the fact that they have one of the most suited bowling attacks for West Indian pitches.
Aussie aussie aussie ... one of the most dominating and overpowering influences in any sport ever who are constantly evolving in a better and smarter species threatening to kill audience interest in the game due to their dominance.

Why we might just pull it off? (the part where I prove cricket is ingrained in my blood)

We have shown that we often perform better when players are unshackled in their minds and not having the burden of expectations weighing on their minds.
The pitches should suit our batting having seen similar surfaces at home. Also in last few editions senior batsmen have shown a tendency to put their hand up and carry the team through in big tournaments.
Senior cricketers including Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly and Kumble hopefully playing like men possessed with the knowledge that it might be their last shot at the biggest prize in the game.

Very obviously I am praying for the latter and hoping we do pull off a miracle victory which will provide the greatest joy to India since probably the Kargil victory. I shall be down there in the Caribbean egging on our team ....... hope to catch you there in person or in spirit too :)

Dude, couple of things.
1.Don't even equate a game (or come even close to doing that) with people's lives sacrificed for the safety and security of its citizens, so that the average person can carry on with is/her mundane life. Please.. i expect better from you. Athletes sometimes say, "It was a real battle out there. and I am soldier". NO friggin way.

2. How dare you even doubt India's chances in the world cup? Probability of India winning this WC (p) = 1. Probability of any other team winning the WC = 1-p = 0. (Bestest math equation ever). You'll be thanking me when Dravid lifts that trophy and be amazed at how I knew it so well!!

I think the biggest advantage for India this year is that there is absolutely no expectations..and the entire world thinks Aussies r going to steam roll all their opponents

Given this feeling, India can perform without pressure and cause a major upset...I hope Tendulkar wakes up b4 he is overshadowed by upcoming youth arnd the world...

Now that Dada, Kumble and Zak are back (ooh that rhymed) i feel a lot more confident.

@ Subash : Im still hoping it will be Dada lifting the trophy but as long as its not Ponting i wont complain. No wait. It has to be someone in the Indian team. :)

@Subash Dude 1996,1992 and 1983 were the biggest achievments for cricket for the sub continent but it doesnt mean that they can be equated becase they will always mean different things to different people. Alll I meant was that as a nation India has never been happier or proud of our fellow countrymen

@Pointy Tendulkar is bound to do well and I predict Aussie face minor hiccups like loss of key players and a bump facing England in the best of 3 finals (doesnt mean that they dont win eventually)

@totti Hope you have more some dreams, it about time too that one of your frigging dreams came true

@wagla Shouldnt be in a utopian world ;)

@Karthik I hope so too :)

@Pri Three cheers to that thought :)
